Everyday photochromic lenses

Photochromic lenses are lenses that, under the influence of UV rays, change the light transmitting capacity. There are a number of technologies that are used by different manufacturers, but Transitions Optical's technology is the most widely known. The name "photochromism" came from Greek words photo = light and chroma = color, paint. Properties of some materials to change the intensity of color under the influence of sunlight observed in the XVIII century. The real use and development of this property found in the XX century, when in 1965, Corning released the first photochromic mineral lens by order of the US Department of Defense.

The success of this product gave impetus to research in the field of photochromic technologies used in organic materials. Today, Transitions Optical is an company that cooperates with leading manufacturers of optics.

The French company BBGR produces photochromic lenses also using the Transitions® technology.

Since the beginning of the foundation of the company Transitions Optical and until 2008, six generations of lenses have changed and today the market successfully sells photochromic lenses Transitions® VII. Photo-chromatic technology Transitions® is the world market leader, and its sales are increasing every year.

French photochromic lenses BBGR, manufactured using the technology Transitions®, fully meet the following requirements:

  • Indoors they are almost as transparent as colorless, and on the street adequately darken depending on the ultraviolet radiation. Lenses are the most temperature-balanced in the market.
  • Transitions® VII lenses from the BBGR have the fastest darkening and clearing speed.
  • French lenses Transitions ® VII completely protect the eyes from all UV spectra, including short-wave.

Excessively bright sunlight negatively affects the quality of vision. In glasses, the effect of light is exacerbated by reflection (glare) from the spectacle lens itself. These factors reduce the contrast of the image, lead to a short-term loss of vision and orientation in space, a violation of the perception of the surrounding world, causing irritation and discomfort.

The photochromic Transitions® VII lens from the BBGR effectively reduces glare, which leads to increased contrast of perception, reduced fatigue, since the eye does not experience a strong voltage to adapt the view to the degree of illumination, and as a result - excellent visual comfort.

It should be remembered that photo-chromatic lenses Transitions® VII- is not a familiar concept of "two in one", in a darkened state they are not a replacement for sunglasses. This is, first of all, transparent lenses with the additional possibility to adequately darken under different conditions of illumination. These lenses are suitable for users of any age and any type of activity who want to purchase glasses with transparent lenses.

Millions of adults around the world opt for photochromic lenses for the comfort and protection of their eyes.

However, eye protection measures are not so widely distributed among the young generation. This fact absolutely contradicts the fact that the eyes of children, being in the stage of formation, are much more vulnerable. UV radiation is dangerous at any age. However, due to a number of factors, in childhood the risk is much higher. The lens of the baby is underdeveloped, allows more UV and short-wave rays of the visible spectrum than the lens of an adult, which leads to a greater UV exposure of the internal structures of the eye. In addition, children spend much more time on the street, which increases the impact on the eyes of sunlight.

Children like to play in the sun, but as a rule, their parents do not know anything about the hazardous effects of UV radiation and the fact that the eyes of the child are exposed to it 3 times more than the eyes of an adult.

Knowing the dangers posed by UV sunlight, it is much easier to understand the benefits that the French BBGR lenses made with Transitions® technology give the child.

Transitions® VII lenses block 100% of UVB and UVA, as well as short-wavelength visible light.

Photochromic lenses - this is an opportunity for children to use one pair of glasses throughout the day, without changing the transparent glasses to sunscreen. This is exactly the style of children's life, and allows you not to worry about that the child did not forget to change glasses and uses the "correct" glasses for the street and the room.

So, in the assortment of BBGR, lenses made using Transitions® technology are presented in all materials and designs and can be an ideal solution for all glasses users. These lenses provide excellent visual quality under any lighting conditions, adapting to their changes and ensuring an always optimum amount of light coming to the eye.

BBGR always recommends the ordering of Transitions® photochromic lenses with an antireflection coating (Diam's, Diam's Clear UV, Neva® Max UV, Neva® Max SecretUV) to get maximum comfort and no irritating glare. Now the Transitions VII lenses from the company BBGR are presented in several colors:

  • Ambre
  • Violet Amethyste
  • Blue Sapphire
  • Gray
  • Brown
  • Graphite-Green
